The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a statutory requirement that regulated service providers must ensure their staff receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the standardised training developed for this purpose and is the government’s recommended training for health and social care staff.

Once you have completed the eLearning (Part 1 of the training), you must attend Part 2 of The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training which is now open for bookings. This is a one-hour online interactive session co-delivered by a person with a learning disability, an autistic person, and a facilitator.

To book onto a session please email bookings.ommt@selondonics.nhs.uk with:

  • The date you’d like to book
  • Your full name
  • The name of the organisation you work for

The following sessions are available to book:

  • Tuesday 23rd September 2025 at 3pm
  • Wednesday 1st October 2025 at 11am
  • Thursday 9th October 2025 at 3pm
  •  Friday 17th October 2025 at 11am
  • Tuesday 21st October 2025 at 11am
  • Wednesday 29th October 2025 at 3pm
  • Thursday 6th November 2025 at 11am
  • Monday 10th November 2025 at 11am

Please note that spaces are in short supply and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

You will receive your certificates within 72 hours of attending the webinar via email. To receive your certificate, you must:

  • Register via email (please do not share your webinar link – anyone accessing through a webinar link that has been shared via a colleague will not receive a certificate)
  • Attend the full 1-hour session. Anyone arriving after 10 minutes will not be admitted to the training and will need to rebook.

If you are unable to attend your booking, please cancel so that your space can be reallocated.
