Vaccinations
Winter

If you’re a south east London resident, you’ll be able to get free flu vaccinations aboard the Winter Health Bus this week, as the NHS launches a Big Week of Vaccinations to protect people from winter illnesses.

The Winter Health Bus will be at Peckham Square from today, making its way to Bexleyheath Shopping Centre on Thursday and then onto Princess Royal University Hospital on Friday. Further locations will be confirmed throughout the week.

What’s on offer?

  • Free winter vaccinations for eligible adults
  • Vital 5 health checks – quick checks to measure:
    o Blood pressure
    o Weight
    o Mental health
    o Alcohol intake
    o Smoking habits

You’ll receive helpful tips and learn where to get further support to help you stay healthy.

Flu cases are rising across London. Flu is not just a heavy cold – it’s highly infectious and symptoms can come on very quickly.

Getting vaccinated means that if you do catch flu, your symptoms are likely to be milder and you’ll recover faster.

You can get your free flu vaccine on the bus if you:

  • are pregnant
  • are aged 65+
  • have a long-term health condition
  • are a carer or close contact of an immunocompromised individual
  • are a frontline health or care worker

Children’s flu vaccines won’t be offered on the bus, but:

  • If you’re a parent of a child aged 2 or 3, you can contact your GP surgery to book their flu vaccination. Some pharmacies also offer the vaccine for 2- and 3-year-olds – check the NHS pharmacy finder to find your nearest one.
  • If your child is school-aged (Reception to Year 11), they’ll mainly be offered their flu vaccination at school. You can also attend a community catch-up clinic.

We’ll also be offering free Covid-19 vaccinations. Check the NHS website for eligibility.

Come along to the Winter Health Bus and take simple steps to stay well this winter.
