Bromley’s new Health and Wellbeing Centre has been formally opened by the Mayor of Bromley, as the centre continues to serve residents from the heart of the town centre.

The centre brings a wide range of health and wellbeing services under one roof, which is located at Ravensleigh House on Westmoreland Place, forming part of the Bromley Civic Centre building. The centre is located opposite Bromley South train station and the Police Station and is found on the walkway to St Mark’s Square. The centre is home to the Dysart GP Surgery and the One Bromley Wellbeing Hub, previously based at The Glades, which have both been serving residents from this location since January.

The aim of the centre is simple: make it easier for residents to get the support they need, earlier, in one accessible, welcoming setting. The centre offers convenient access to health checks, practical advice and early intervention, in support of the wider shift in the NHS towards prevention to better improve residents’ health outcomes. Services such as blood pressure checks, weight management, smoking cessation and lifestyle programmes help residents stay well for longer, avoid preventable illness and reduce pressure on local hospitals.

The Mayor of Bromley Councillor Jonathan Andrews said: “I was delighted to officially open this new centre, which brings together a wide range of services in a welcoming and convenient space in the heart of Bromley’s town centre. This important enhancement of health and wellbeing services for residents has been achieved through close partnership working between the council and our health partners, and has also allowed us to bring these partner colleagues closer to us at our new Civic Centre home at Churchill Court.”

Dr Angela Bhan, Place Executive Director, One Bromley Local Care Partnership said, “The centre reflects the direction our health and care system is moving in: more joined-up, more local and more focused on prevention. By bringing GP services, lifestyle support, community health teams, and voluntary groups together, we are making it simpler for people to get day-to-day care close to home. This is exactly what the NHS 10 Year Health Plan sets out – shifting from reactive care to helping people stay well, identifying issues earlier and supporting residents to take control of their own health.”

Councillor Colin Smith, Leader of the Council said: “This centre is fantastic news for Bromley residents, particularly those in the town centre, for improving our local health provision and bringing relevant services together in one convenient location. Our delivery of this centre is the epitome of effective partnership working, which thanks to the collective drive and vision of the council and our health partners has meant this fantastic new centre has become a reality for Bromley.”

The Mayor was accompanied at the opening by the Leader of the Council Councillor Colin Smith, Executive Councillor for Adult Care and Health Councillor Diane Smith, Peter Fortune MP, councillors, NHS partners and staff from Bromley Health and Wellbeing Centre.

The centre has been developed through close partnership working between the NHS, Bromley Council and local voluntary organisations through the One Bromley Local Care Partnership. Together, these organisations are working to improve access to local care, connect residents with support sooner and build healthier communities.

The new centre offers a welcoming environment for local health services with spacious consulting and treatment rooms, bright new reception areas, modern heating and lighting systems, and will include a GP surgery.

At the centre, residents can access a broad range of services delivered by Mytime Active, Bromley Well and other community partners. These include Vital 5 checks, blood pressure checks, weight management, smoking cessation, lifestyle medicine programmes, enhanced community sickle cell care and Citizens Advice support.

Services run Monday to Friday (9am–5pm) and Saturdays (9am–1pm). Full details and booking information are available at www.selondonics.org/BromleyHWC.
