Congratulations to south east London GP, Dr Emma Humphries, who has been recognised with a national award for her exceptional compassion and support for patients experiencing baby loss.
Dr Emma Humphries, Named GP for Safeguarding Children in Greenwich, received the Compassion Award at the 2026 Mariposa Awards, run by the Saying Goodbye charity.
The award honours medical professionals who have shown genuine care and compassion to a patient following baby loss. Dr Humphries was nominated by a patient in recognition of the care and support she provided over several years following a series of baby losses and related complications.
The Mariposa Awards are organised by Saying Goodbye, a UK-based charity supporting people affected by baby loss. The charity reaches more than 50,000 people each week and works to recognise healthcare professionals who provide exceptional bereavement care.
In accepting the award, Dr Humphries highlighted the importance of compassionate, personalised care for patients and families experiencing loss, and referenced the role of NHS South East London in supporting this work.
This recognition reflects the vital role that compassionate, patient-centred care plays in supporting those through some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
