Teams across south east London have come together over the past year to deliver meaningful improvements in general practice, as highlighted in the newly published Clinical Effectiveness South East London (CESEL) 2025–26 Impact Report.

The report showcases how sustained collaboration and a strong focus on quality improvement are translating into better outcomes for patients.

In hypertension care, south east London has achieved the best blood pressure control ever recorded locally, with improvement rates surpassing the national average. This reflects the continued commitment of primary care teams to early identification, proactive management and consistent follow up for patients at risk.

Significant progress has also been made in asthma care. A marked reduction in short-acting beta agonist (SABA) prescribing is supporting better overall control of the condition and helping to reduce the number of asthma attacks. This improvement demonstrates a shift towards safer, more preventative care, ensuring patients receive the right treatment at the right time.

Improvements in long-term condition management continue to build year on year across a number of key indicators. The report highlights ongoing progress in diabetes and chronic kidney disease, with quality metrics steadily improving as teams embed best practice and strengthen patient support.
