Information for patients following the temporary closure of Cheltenham Chemist

21 Aug 2026
Lewisham

Cheltenham Chemist at Honor Oak Health Centre is temporarily closed. Patients are currently unable to collect prescriptions or medicines from the pharmacy.

We are working with local GP practices, community pharmacies and NHS partners to help patients continue to access their medicines during this period.

If you normally have your prescriptions sent to Cheltenham Chemist

Please arrange for future prescriptions to be sent to another pharmacy by:

  • changing your nominated pharmacy through the NHS App, or
  • contacting your GP practice. If you are due to collect a prescription today, another community pharmacy may be able to access your electronic prescription and dispense your medication. You will need your NHS number.

In some cases, it may not be possible for another pharmacy to access the prescription electronically. If this happens, you may need to contact your GP practice to request a new prescription.

If you have a paper prescription

If you have a paper prescription that has not yet been dispensed, please take it to another community pharmacy.

If your medication has already been dispensed by Cheltenham Chemist and is awaiting collection, please contact your GP practice for advice.

If you need medication urgently

If you are at risk of running out of medication and cannot contact your GP practice, support may be available through the NHS emergency prescription service.

Visit: Emergency prescriptions – NHS 111

If you attend a pharmacy after completing the online form, show the confirmation to pharmacy staff and they will advise on the next steps.

If you cannot access the website, take any available evidence of your prescription, such as an empty medication box or a previous prescription, to a local pharmacy. You can also contact NHS 111 for advice.
