South East London Integrated Care Board appoints new Chief Digital Information Officer
South East London Integrated Care Board (SEL ICB) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Philippa Kirkpatrick as Chief Digital Information Officer.
Philippa has previously held senior leadership roles in the Australian healthcare system. She successfully delivered the Epic electronic patient record for the Australian Capital Territory and has led numerous digital programmes, taking them from strategy development to procurement, through contract negotiation to implementation. Her vision is for digital health to be an enabler to better patient care, breaking down silos in the provision of health and social care services and facilitating the delivery of patient-centred care.
Philippa is passionate about reducing inequalities in access to healthcare, and in ensuring healthcare is culturally sensitive and accessible to all members of our diverse population. Philippa has experience in healthcare that extends beyond implementation of digital health.
She was previously the National Policy Manager for Palliative Care Australia, where she led the development of the Dying to Talk Discussion Starter to help facilitate conversations about preferences for end of life care. She was a member of the Close the Gap Steering Committee and is proud of her contribution to their work to reduce inequalities in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia.
Philippa has a background in clinical research and was a member of the Australian government Health Translation Advisory Committee. She recognises the importance of digital health in enhancing evidence-based decision-making, and she looks forward to driving forward initiatives at regional and local level that make available data and analysis to improve the quality of care to everyone in south east London and beyond.
Philippa says, “There is so much to achieve in the application of digital technology to healthcare, whether it’s in driving efficiency in patient pathways, engaging people in developing the services they use, or using data to inform public health priorities at a population – or individual – level. South east London presents diverse and complex health and social challenges, as well as significant opportunities to make positive change, and I’m excited to be joining such a forward-thinking and committed team.”

Philippa brings international expertise and experience that are exactly aligned with our aims, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming her to the ICB.”
Philippa will join the ICB in June.
