Every year in south east London, high blood pressure leads to 140 heart attacks and 200 strokes. We want to prevent this from happening.

This is why we are making easier for you to check and manage your high blood pressure with a simple service: get your blood pressure checked at your local pharmacy – it’s fast, easy, and usually doesn’t need an appointment.

What happens during a blood pressure check at the pharmacy?

Getting your blood pressure checked at the pharmacy is a quick process. It typically takes about 10-15 minutes in a private consultation room with the pharmacist. After the check, you might be given a blood pressure monitor to use at home.

Based on your blood pressure reading, the pharmacist will either reassure you if it’s normal or suggest a referral to your GP for further management if needed. They’ll explain any necessary next steps.

Who can use this service?

Anyone aged 40 or above can access the service. The pharmacist may also consider people under 40, if necessary.

Your GP might direct you to the pharmacy for monitoring your blood pressure. To find out how to access the service, ask at your local pharmacy. Click here to find pharmacies in your area providing this service – drop by today to see if they offer it, and learn how to get your blood pressure checked for free.
