The Bexley Wellbeing Partnership committee met at the end of the month and devoted a large part of the meeting to a special talk on Men’s Health in light of International Men’s Day and Men’s Health Month (Movember).
Our Bexley and Greenwich colleague, Robert Shaw, spoke about the treatment he is receiving for head and neck cancer, and he encouraged men to talk to friends and loved ones about any worrying symptoms and not to ignore potential early warning signs.
We were also joined by Winnie Kwan, GP Cancer Lead, for Bexley and Cancer Lead for SEL ICS, who spoke about a range of cancers that affect men, the signs and symptoms and echoed Robert’s call for men to contact their GP if they have worrying symptoms.
We also heard from representatives from Men in Sheds Bexley, a new health group for men being set up in Thamesmead and Munya Mangundu from Oxleas about mental health support in the borough.
