Free blood pressure checks will be offered across Lewisham for World Hypertension Day on Friday 17 May.
Hypertension, or high blood pressure is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, dementia and early death globally.
Approximately 50% of people with hypertension don’t know they have it, so it’s important to get checked. Of the population estimated to have hypertension in Lewisham, 44% (27,586) remain undiagnosed.
People who are of black African or black Caribbean descent are at a higher risk of having high blood pressure.
Blood pressure checks are available on 17 May at:
Lewisham residents can also visit their local participating pharmacy to ask for a blood pressure check. See below for details.
The blood pressure checks are being delivered in partnership with Suvera Health, South East London Integrated Care System, Modality PCN and The Lewisham Care Partnership PCN.
