Feeling supported to stay healthy rather than only treated when we are sick. Feeling the links between our physical, mental and social needs are understood by our services. Telling our stories only once and getting joined-up advice.
These are important and widely shared aspirations for a better health and care system for everyone in south east London. But a system is only as good as the connections between its parts. And they will only be possible if we Connect in new ways.
Connect is a unique initiative aiming to create a thriving, connected community of system leaders to deliver kinder, more equitable care for people in south east London.
Last year, over 200 individuals across health and care sectors and organisations have co-created five guiding characteristics that define the leadership we need for the 21st century. They set out the skills and behaviours that each of us can develop to connect in service of south east Londoners.
Now, the Connect community needs a group of passionate, curious individuals to realise the potential of this community over the next 12 months.
This is a unique, developmental opportunity to learn together with like-minded people from different walks of life and to deepen your system leadership skills in practice.
The Group will come together for a 2 hour monthly workshop to shape the strategic direction for Connect and co-design initiatives to engage with and broaden the 400-strong Connect membership base. Members will draw on tailored support from Kaleidoscope Health and Care – a social enterprise with expertise in supporting collaboration and system leadership – to co-design and co-deliver Connect activities.
Over the 12 months, members will also deepen their system leadership practice, learning through peer-to-peer activities and group coaching in core system leadership skills, for example developing and sustaining thriving networks and building trust across boundaries.
Connect is an initiative to increase the number and quality of connections across boundaries in service of working together to deliver kinder, more equitable care for south east Londoners. Its vision is to create a thriving, developmental and sustainable community of system leaders which is inclusive, inspiring and improvement focused.
It forms part of the South East London System Leadership Academy – a new resource for south east London focused on developing system leadership capability at every level and in every part of our health and care system.
Compatible with existing schedules and commitments, this is a totally unique, flexible developmental opportunity, to learn together with like-minded people from different walks of life.
