Bromley Adult Education College welcomed local people on 10 March 2026 for a relaxed and informative International Women’s Day event focused on women’s health and wellbeing. Held at the Kentwood Centre in Penge, the drop‑in session ran from 11am to 2pm and gave local women the chance to access advice, information and simple health checks in an approachable setting.

The day opened with a talks covering topics many women tell us they want clearer information about, including pelvic health, pregnancy and preconception, and breast and cervical cancer screening. The aim was to make these subjects easier to understand and to give people confidence to seek support when they need it.

Stalls were also set up around the space with information and resources on a wide range of women’s health issues. Visitors could also have their blood pressure checked, speak to professionals and pick up guidance to take home with them. The afternoon session continued with another round of talks, so people could drop in at a time that suited them.

Izabela Lecybyl, Head of Learner Support Services at Bromley Adult Education College, said “At Bromley Adult Education College, we had another opportunity on Tuesday 10th March to host a Women’s Day event dedicated to women’s health. Thanks to Bromley Public Health Team and the many teams involved, BAEC learners and other participants had the chance to learn about a wide range of topics, including women’s health, vaccinations, cancer screening, sexual health, pregnancy, and maternity.

There was also an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and access information leaflets in multiple languages, which was particularly appreciated by ESOL learners.

Overall, this was a great experience for everyone at BAEC – well organised, collaborative, and positively received by attendees. It was inspiring to see such strong partnership working and a shared commitment to improving women’s health and wellbeing.”
