Lewisham Health and Care Partnership are delighted to announce CHEC as the new provider of community dermatology services across the borough. The contract has been awarded on a 3+2-year basis to ensure continuity of care and services will begin from 1st May 2025.
CHEC is a leading provider of high-quality, efficient, and patient-focused community-based healthcare services. Working in close collaboration with the NHS, they are dedicated to delivering accessible, specialist care across England.
Founded on the principle that healthcare should be accessible to all, CHEC brings essential services, including dermatology, into the heart of local communities. By removing barriers to care – such as long travel distances and extended waiting times – CHEC empowers patients to access the treatments they need, closer to home and faster than traditional routes allow.
In addition to clinical excellence, CHEC invests heavily in innovation, infrastructure, and people. Its facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by highly trained, experienced clinicians and support teams. From initial consultation to treatment and aftercare, patients can expect a seamless and supportive journey.
CHEC also places strong emphasis on inclusivity, ensuring its services are tailored to the diverse needs of the populations it serves. With multilingual support, accessible locations, and a patient-first approach, CHEC is committed to health equity and to making sure no one is left behind when it comes to quality care.
“For well over a decade, we’ve been trusted by the NHS to deliver healthcare services for local people in the community. We’re excited to become part of the Lewisham community and look forward to welcoming our first patients in the coming weeks” explains Iwona Ngody, Director of Community Services at CHEC.
“We’re delighted to be working with CHEC to deliver the Community Dermatology Service in Lewisham. Following a successful tender process, CHEC were selected based on their ability to meet service quality, accessibility, and value for patients. We’re looking forward to seeing the service become operational from 1st May” explains Ashley O’Shaughnessy, Associate Director of Community Based Care and Primary Care for Lewisham.
Any patients who were on the waiting list under the previous provider will now be transferred across to CHEC. They can expect to be recontacted to confirm the transfer and their need for referral will be validated.
Referrals can be made via e-RS: LEWISHAM DERMATOLOGY SERVICE – CHEC NEW CROSS – RAS using the “Lewisham Community Dermatology Referral Form” available in DXS.
Once received, referrals will be clinically triaged by the community service, ensuring that each patient is directed to the most appropriate setting.
CHEC offer both virtual and face-to-face consultations.
