Children and young people

The London Borough of Bexley Council and NHS South East London Integrated Care Board have published the children and young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) local area Priority Action Plan.

The Priority Action Plan sets out the actions the local area will take to address the required improvements in response to the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection Report on SEND partnership services published in February 2024.

The Priority Action Plan sets out the intended improvements across three priority action areas:

  1. Preparing young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities for Adulthood.
  2. Ensuring all Education, Health and Care Plans we issue are of a good quality and ensuring they are reviewed and amended, if required, in a timely way.
  3. Reviewing the joint commissioning arrangements, we have for Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy, to ensure that all children and young people with special educational need and disabilities have access to the therapy they have been assessed as needing.

The Bexley Local Area Partnership comprises of a range of organisations, along with the London Borough of Bexley Council and NHS South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB), responsible for planning and commissioning relevant services.
