Local residents came together last week at the Penge Health and Wellbeing Event, held at the Bromley Adult Education Centre on Thursday 31 October, to learn more about local health services, get free checks, and access advice to support their wellbeing.

The event, organised by Bromley Council’s Public Health team and One Bromley health and care partners, brought a wide range of local services under one roof, helping people find the right care and support close to home.

Visitors were able to get free blood pressure checks, learn about vaccinations and screening and receive advice on self-care, digital skills and accessing healthcare. For those eligible, walk-in flu and COVID-19 vaccinations were also available on the day.

Families enjoyed a welcoming community atmosphere, with free refreshments and face painting for children, while adults took the opportunity to ask questions and gather information about keeping well this winter.

Susanna Keiderling, Senior Health Protection Practitioner said “Building on last year’s success, we hosted our second Health & Wellbeing event at Kentwood Adult Education Centre in partnership with the Adult Education team and a range of local organisations. The event created a welcoming space for residents of all ages in Penge to learn about local services and access practical support. Visitors could take part in activities covering a variety of health topics, receive blood pressure checks, and benefit from a drop-in vaccination clinic offering flu and COVID-19 vaccines. There was great engagement from the local community and an opportunity for many meaningful conversations about health and wellbeing.”

Thank you to everyone who attended and to all our partners and volunteers who helped make the day such a success.
