Chief Nurse and Quality Officer

Elaine Clancy joined in September 2026 as Chief Nurse for NHS South East London and NHS South West London Integrated Care Boards, returning to the commissioning system following a secondment at St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Group (GESH), where she served as Group Chief Nurse.

Elaine has more than 30 years’ experience in the NHS. A trained adult, paediatric and A&E nurse, she has worked on the frontline as well as holding a range of senior leadership roles across hospital and community services in London.

Before taking up her current role, Elaine was Chief Nursing Officer for NHS South West London ICB and, during her secondment, led nursing across the GESH hospitals group. She has a longstanding connection to south west and south east London, having worked in a variety of clinical and leadership roles across the region.
