Partners from across One Bromley came together on 4th March for the Shaping Bromley’s Housebound Services workshop, a session designed to look more closely at how local services support residents who are housebound and what could be improved by working together.

The workshop brought together teams within the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams who regularly care for housebound patients – including Primary Care Networks, the Anticipatory Care team, local authority colleagues, secondary care representatives and third‑sector partners.

The first part of the day focused on updates from a number of local projects, including the MDC PCN and Bromley Connect PCN’s housebound initiatives, Bromley Healthcare’s Anticipatory Care Team and the work developing through the INTs. Each project shared what they’ve learned so far, what’s working well and where challenges remain, as well as the response from patients and their families. Hearing these side by side gave a clearer picture of the different approaches being taken and the common themes they share.

Using data tailored to their local areas, teams discussed what good care for housebound residents should look like. Conversations touched on long‑term condition management, the role of unpaid carers, reducing avoidable hospital admissions and the importance of having the right organisations involved to support residents effectively. The aim was to hear different perspectives and gather ideas that will be taken away and explored further.

“This workshop highlighted the value of collaboration. Bringing partners together in this way enables us to share insights and learn from one another, while identifying real opportunities to work more closely and improve how we support housebound residents across Bromley.” – Jess Seal, Primary and Community Care Transformation Manager (Bromley), NHS South East London ICB

All feedback from the workshop will now be brought together so the team can look at the themes in more detail. This will help shape the next phase of work to improve care for housebound residents in Bromley.
