Lambeth Together and Partnership Southwark have created a short video exploring the different ways residents can take positive action to support their mental health through the 5 Steps to Mental Wellbeing.
Ruth Hutt, Director of Public Health for Lambeth Council, said: “Mental Health Awareness Week is an important reminder that small actions can make a real difference to how we feel day to day. The NHS’ five steps to mental wellbeing are simple, practical ways for people to look after their mental health, whether that’s staying connected, being active or taking notice. I’d encourage everyone in Lambeth to take one positive step this week, for themselves and for those around them.”
Sangeeta Leahy, Director of Public Health for Southwark Council, said: “Southwark has such a lot to offer people who want to improve their mental health – from connecting with nature in one of our parks and green spaces to learning a new skill or joining one of the many community groups in the borough. I’d encourage residents to take a look at the Council’s website for some practical steps to improve wellbeing. We can all play our part in creating healthier communities.”
Many of the highlighted wellbeing activities offer more than one of the five steps to mental wellbeing. So the impact of adding just one regular activity or action to your week can be huge. Take action for your mental health today, for yourself, for someone else, for all of us.
