Professor Clive Kay – Chief Executive, King’s College NHS Foundation Trust (host organisation)

Professor Clive Kay

Clive joined King’s as Chief Executive in April 2019. He has extensive clinical and leadership experience, and prior to taking up his position at King’s he was Chief Executive at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from January 2015.

Previously he was Clinical Director of Radiology (2001-2006) and subsequently the Medical Director (2006-2014) at Bradford.

He is currently a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

Professor Ian Abbs – Chief Executive, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust

Professor Ian Abbs

Ian became Chief Executive in August 2019. He was appointed Medical Director in January 2011 and Chief Medical Officer in January 2017.

He joined the Trust as a consultant renal physician and honorary senior lecturer at King’s College London in 1994. His clinical and academic career has included a broad range of senior management positions.

In addition to his clinical work, Ian has played a key role in the development of the Trust’s life science partnerships, and has been responsible for many aspects of the Trust’s digital transformation and innovation agenda.

Ben Travis – Chief Executive, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

Ben Travis

Ben was appointed Chief Executive with effect from April 2018. He was formerly Chief Executive of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

Under his leadership, Oxleas achieved an impressive CQC rating of good or outstanding across every single service domain while remaining in financial balance.

Prior to his role as Chief Executive, he was acting Chief Executive Officer at Oxleas and before that he was Director of Finance for four years. He has held previous senior positions within both the NHS and the business services sector.

Fiona Howgego – Managing Director

Fiona Howgego

Appointed as Managing Director in September 2021, Fiona has significant experience of implementing change and improvement programmes across the NHS.

She has worked for the NHS at national and regional levels, as well as working more locally with commissioners, community and acute providers. This diverse experience has shown her the importance of bringing systems to work together in new ways and she deeply believes in the value of collaboration within the NHS.

She understands the importance of developing solutions within the Acute Provider Collaborative that work with the wider health system and is passionate about reducing health inequalities.

Joanna Johnson – Clinical Director, and Network Clinical Lead for Dental services

Joanna Johnson

Joanna was appointed as the inaugural Clinical Director of the South East London Acute Provider Collaborative in January 2022. She is also our Dental Clinical Network Lead.

She brings to the APC more than 25 years of NHS experience, including a decade in senior leadership posts. Passionate about health care, she has a proven track record of working collaboratively to transform services with improved efficiencies.

Joanna combines her APC work with her role as Clinical Director of the Dental Directorate – Europe’s largest dental school – at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is Chair of the Managed Clinical Network for Paediatric Dentistry in London, as well as Chair of the Association of Dental Hospitals.
