We’ve launched Women’s and Girls’ Health Hubs to make it easier for residents to access the care they need in one convenient place, reducing waiting times for appointments and easing pressure on busy hospital services.

Two pilot hubs were set up in spring 2025: one covering Bexley and Greenwich, and the other for residents in Lambeth. We used feedback from over 1,400 local women and girls to shape them.

Our health hubs bring together doctors, nurses and other specialists to provide a one stop shop for a range of conditions.

How can they help me?

You’ll be provided with tailored advice and, if needed, treatment for a range of different conditions in a single visit, saving you time and effort. These include:

  • Menopause
  • Period or menstrual problems like heavy or irregular bleeding
  • Contraception
  • Preconception health

Depending on the health hub, you may have an in-person appointment, a virtual consultation, or a specialist team will send advice back to your GP without the need for you to be seen.

We’re planning to expand services to cover breast pain assessment and care; pelvic organ prolapse and pessary fitting/removal; cervical cancer screening; and STI and HIV screening.

How can I access the health hubs?

Our health hubs are open to all women and girls aged 13 and above in Bexley, Greenwich and Lambeth. Some people who don’t identify as women may also require access to care provided by the health hubs.

If your GP or a clinician at one of our health hubs thinks that you need hospital treatment, they will refer you to the right service.

If you live in Bexley or Greenwich, you can self-refer into the service and book an appointment tailored to your healthcare needs. If you’re unsure how to use this system, please email oxl-tr.wghh@nhs.net or call 0208 301 8944. Alternatively, your GP can refer you to Oxleas community gynaecology services which will support you to access the hub.

The clinic is located at Market Street Health Centre in Woolwich, however you may be offered an appointment at another site or online. You will be contacted directly ahead of time with details of where to go, or how to log in if your appointment is online.

We’re delivering several outreach sessions at community events and venues where you can also access support. More details will be published on this page once confirmed.

If you live in Lambeth, you can speak to your GP to be referred to our health hub. Your referral will be reviewed by a specialist team who will send advice back to your GP without the need for you to be seen directly. If necessary, you may be referred to a specialist service for further treatment.

This hub is currently operated virtually with plans to provide an in-person service in the coming months.
